Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on St. David’s by-the-Sea, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Andrew Smith
Director of Music Ministries
Andrew V. Smith has been around church music for as long as he can remember. From humble beginnings in a children’s choir at a small Catholic school in Lake Worth, FL and taking piano and saxophone lessons through childhood, Andrew has volunteered at various different parish choirs since high school, both as a singer and as a conductor. He sang with the UCF’s Singing Knights during his computer science undergraduate and graduate studies, finishing his undergrad with the equivalent of a music minor. However, it wasn’t until he was called to be a choral scholar at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Titusville that he began to seriously involve himself in the ministry of sacred music. He soon began taking organ lessons and served as the parish's Rite 1 organist during the pandemic.
Having joined St. David’s by-the-Sea as the Director of Music Ministries at the beginning of 2022, Andrew has worked to enrich and improve congregational singing and make more prominent the choir's role in the liturgy. He has also organized special services featuring the choirs along with musicians from the greater Space Coast community, including Advent Lessons and Carols, All Saints Day Evensong, and others.
When not at St. David’s, Andrew spends part of his time as an automated software test programmer at his first Alma Mater. He is also dedicated to education and considers himself a lifelong student, and is in the midst of music studies at Rollins College in Winter Park. There, he studies conducting with John Sinclair, composition and theory with Daniel Crozier, and organ with Zoe Lei. In addition to singing with various vocal groups at Rollins, he is a member of the Bach Festival Oratorio Society of Winter Park, VoxO, and the FOAN ensemble. He is also a Sinfonian (and serves as the Mu Eta chapter's music director) and is a board member of both the Space Coast and Central Florida chapters of the American Guild of Organists.

Vestry
In Episcopal churches, a group of parish-elected representatives serve in conjunction with the Rector as the church’s governing board. The role of the Vestry and its members is to support the vision and mission of St. David’s by the Sea, to lead in service and ministry, to ensure proper stewardship of the church’s resources, to engage in both short-term and long-term visionary planning, and to act as helpers to the Rector for the furtherance of the welfare of the church.
The following people serve on the current Vestry: Roxanne McCormac (Senior Warden), Jack Tracy (Junior Warden), Sylvia Rath, Louise Weaver, Mike Faughnan, Ross Amelio, Allison Cobb, Bob Schlafke, and Jeanne Weaver.
